An African National Security Printer received roughly 50 tones of high-security paper designed by NanoMatriX.
The security printer contacted NanoMatriX at the beginning of the year and asked to improve the anti-counterfeit resilience of the existing papers. As a result, we updated the multi-tonal watermark and holographic security thread with assistance from NanoMatriX’s in-house security graphic design team. Additional overt and covert anti-copy capabilities were incorporated to provide robust counterfeit resilience.
The high security paper has been manufactured in compliance with the quality management ISO 9001 and sustainable forestry standards as per the FSC 100% certificate provided by the Forest Stewardship Council. Our team designed security papers free from any threat of adulteration that the African security papers could have faced earlier. These security papers are almost impossible to copy as our team of experts incorporated some of the best security features in these papers. These security features included:
Watermark visible under UV light: Additional security was added to the standard watermark feature, making the watermark only visible under UV light. The watermark can be seen under UV light on one side while being unreadable on the other, indicating a high level of security.
This enhanced watermark provided excellent protection that other means cannot obtain particularly when combined with color pigments. Moreover, under UV light, a faked watermark does not show up, adding an extra layer of security to the important documents of the African Security Printer.
Security Thread: Security threads may be visible in daylight or under UV light, or both. These threads were added to the paper’s structure by our team during the manufacturing process. In regular lighting, some of them might be invisible, yet they glow brightly in UV light. While some threads may have ordinarily apparent properties, UV light completely alters their color. Security threads can be utilized as multicolored fibers and come in a variety of colors, lengths, and thicknesses. NanoMatriX ensured exact dimensions and attributes, such as the color shade or fiber brightness for all the fibers introduced in the Security Threads.
The execution and delivery during the COVID pandemic
It was a challenge to deliver this project in time during the Covid pandemic. The design, design approval, paper sample production, and delivery processes were affected by control measures in place between Africa and Asia.
Our team managed to avoid transport delays even after the production by navigating around local lockdowns, port closures, and others during the pandemic. The security paper arrived on time.
Takeaway
It was a complex project in more ways than one. Our team and customer successfully dealt with high-security requirements, short deadlines, and frequently scarce stakeholder availability. Our team demonstrated once more that NanoMatriX has the expertise and capabilities to deliver high-security printing consumables to African Security Printers when the security paper came on schedule.
